But that's a whole other discussion and going off topic。  For me the series started in a grounded manner (or as grounded as it can be!) but with each part, it got more and more wacky。 Closest comparison I can give is this is the Fast and Furious of books。 And its also about。。。Family! So there you go。 if that is your jam, then go for it。 Or else its a great series that goes on a downward spiral。。。like the name of each book in the series。 I'm just gonna forget about this series and move on。 Probably re-read the other MR books。。。and I hope that now this is done,  Mr Reilly goes back to his old stuff too。 because that was peak MR! Just my opinion。 。。。more

It's been over a decade since I read The Seven Ancient Wonders, the first instalment in Matthew Reilly's Jack West Jr series。 A lot has changed since then, both in my life and in the world。 My love of fast-paced action and puzzles definitely hasn't changed though, and this book delivers in spades on both。 It's been over a decade since I read The Seven Ancient Wonders, the first instalment in Matthew Reilly's Jack West Jr series。 A lot has changed since then, both in my life and in the world。 My love of fast-paced action and puzzles definitely hasn't changed though, and this book delivers in spades on both。 。。。more

。。 。。。more

A satisfying conclusion to a long series of books, which is to be commended these days。 Great action scenes, big scales and stakes, and at this point you know what you're going to get with a Matthew Reilly/Jack West book。 It does suffer a bit from character bloat, but not as much as the previous title。 I'm deducting a point for some fairly sloppy history and blatant destruction of historical monuments。 A satisfying conclusion to a long series of books, which is to be commended these days。 Great action scenes, big scales and stakes, and at this point you know what you're going to get with a Matthew Reilly/Jack West book。 It does suffer a bit from character bloat, but not as much as the previous title。 I'm deducting a point for some fairly sloppy history and blatant destruction of historical monuments。 。。。more

This is the longest it took me to read a new Matthew Reilly book。 It is grim, there are graphic depictions of violence, and it has some vicious sections。 It is a roller coaster with things getting bigger, crazier and weirder。 An interesting end to this series。

Brilliant conclusionA perfect example of Reillys action packed, fast paced, clever writing。 This book expertly and satisfyingly wrapped up all the parts of the previous novels and was a good conclusion to the series。 Very enjoyable。

I can finally relax now that I’ve finished。 This book kept such a fast pace all the way through and hardly left me any time to breathe。 A worthy and fitting finale of a series I began over 10 years ago in high school。 I still remember sneaking off from a school trip to go and buy the 5 greatest warriors。 Thank you Matthew Reilly for such a great end to a great series。 We’ll done Mate!!

Maybe it’s just me, but I wasn’t really wowed by this one。 It felt like he was trying to do an awesome ending but he’d already done the most amazing stuff in the other books that this was all just more of the same and hence a bit meh (which is crazy given some of the amazing scenes)。Still love his stuff though and this was still enjoyable。

The first book in this series was Seven Ancient Wonders released in 2005, we’ve worked our way down to this final book, so it’s been a 16 year journey with Jack West Jr and his team and what a journey it has been! What a wild and emotional ride! I read the first book in this series (Seven Ancient Wonders) when I was 16 and the journey is finally over!Reilly brings all the madness, action, history and mythology that has made the Jack West Jr saga cherished and addictive since 2005。 This final book ties together all the threads, story arcs and characters of the six previous books in an adrenaline-filled, history-rich and most crucially satisfying conclusion to the adventures of Captain Jack West Jr。 Once I What a wild and emotional ride! Was happy with the ending, and not quite so much violence and gore which I think he over did a bit in the fifth book。 Sad that the series has ended but then all good things must come to an end。 Will be interesting to see what he develops next。 I did cheat just a little and read the last few pages first, just had to know who survived (we all knew who will win, I mean, come on!), but as said, happy with the outcome。 Suitable for older teens and adults, just some graphic language and violence。

Over the last few books of this series I have been increasingly disappointed (as elucidated in my reviews) but on this occasion I found myself thinking back to the doctor in the New York library (from Matthew Reilly's first book, 'Contest')。 I am so very glad to report that he's baaaaack!!!!!! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Totally gripping。 A perfect ending to the Jack West Jr series。 Loved the way ancient civilisations and myths are woven into the stories。 I was completely shocked by the ‘death’ of Zoe。 I was anxiously predicting she’d make a triumphant comeback when Jack was at his most desperate and I’m glad that prediction came true。 Only thing that annoyed me was how totally unbelievable (in a book series that’s already filled with impossible feats) it was that Jack gets his hand from Alby, fights and kills R Totally gripping。 A perfect ending to the Jack West Jr series。 Loved the way ancient civilisations and myths are woven into the stories。 I was completely shocked by the ‘death’ of Zoe。 I was anxiously predicting she’d make a triumphant comeback when Jack was at his most desperate and I’m glad that prediction came true。 Only thing that annoyed me was how totally unbelievable (in a book series that’s already filled with impossible feats) it was that Jack gets his hand from Alby, fights and kills Rastor, finished climbing the last overhang, talks to Sphinx, AND then runs several metres to sit on the throne all within 1 minute。 Seriously? All that took place in a minute? The conversations alone would be nearly a minute。 That was the one part that just let it down。 And why must they always destroy everything! A satisfying resolution to the series。 Plenty of suspense and world building。 Losing two stars for the escape from a fiery torrent which was so impossible on multiple levels that, even withstanding the genre trope of improbable escapes from close scrapes, made me spit out my coffee and curse "come-on!" At least the shark jumping came towards the end and didn't spoil the book too much。 Overall, a good fun read but won't be remembered in the test of time。 A satisfying resolution to the series。 Plenty of suspense and world building。 Losing two stars for the escape from a fiery torrent which was so impossible on multiple levels that, even withstanding the genre trope of improbable escapes from close scrapes, made me spit out my coffee and curse "come-on!"
